This is a dull but necessary page: the work is mine, subscriptions renew unless canceled, paid content is not for casual redistribution, and satire remains a poor substitute for professional advice.
Terms of Service
Welcome to The Bard’s Knife. By subscribing to, reading, or otherwise using this publication, you agree to the following terms.
1. What this is
The Bard’s Knife is a paid and free publication offering essays, criticism, commentary, and related material. It is provided for general information, opinion, and entertainment. It is not legal, financial, medical, therapeutic, or other professional advice. If you require such things, seek someone licensed and properly burdened.
2. Subscriptions and billing
Some portions of the publication are available only to paid subscribers. By purchasing a paid subscription, you agree to pay the price shown at the time of purchase. Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before renewal.
You may manage or cancel your subscription through your account settings on the platform. If you cancel, you will generally retain access through the end of the period already paid for, after which your access may revert to the free tier.
3. Refunds
Refunds, if any, are governed by the platform’s billing policies and applicable law. Unless required by law, The Bard’s Knife does not guarantee refunds merely because you have changed your mind, your politics, or your level of tolerance.
4. Intellectual property
All original content published by The Bard’s Knife, including text, images, branding, and related material, is protected by copyright and other applicable law.
Your subscription permits you to read the work. It does not permit you to reproduce, republish, redistribute, sell, scrape, mass-forward, train models on, or otherwise exploit the content without prior written permission, except where the law plainly allows it.
Brief quotation with proper attribution for commentary, criticism, or linking is generally permitted. Wholesale copying is not.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the publication or its contents. That includes attempting unauthorized access, sharing paid content in violation of these terms, impersonating others, harassing the publisher or other readers, or using the publication for unlawful purposes.
6. No guarantees
The Bard’s Knife is provided as is and as available. No promise is made that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, perpetually available, or agreeable to your taste, temper, ideology, or digestion.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Bard’s Knife and its publisher shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the publication, your subscription, billing matters handled by the platform, or your reliance on anything published herein.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the publication after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
9. Suspension or termination
Access to all or part of the publication may be suspended or terminated for violation of these terms, platform rules, applicable law, or other conduct deemed abusive, fraudulent, or destructive to the publication or its readers.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
11. Contact
